Grade Specific Curriculum Analysis
What, specifically, is wrong with the eighth grade curriculum? Through exercises, it encourages children to consider their sexual orientation early, and teaches them that sexual orientation cannot be changed. Research on this is conclusive, the suicide rate decreases for 20% for every year a child puts off labeling themselves as homosexual or bi-sexual. Tolerance is defined as acceptance without disapproval. Gender Identity is defined as “Your identification of yourself as a man or woman, based on the gender you feel to be inside.”
What, specifically, is wrong with the tenth grade curriculum? Children are asked to read and analyze five “coming out” stories; the stories include bi-sexual and transgender kid, and suggests Montgomery County should establish unisex bathrooms for trans-sexual students (read “Portia”). The curriculum teaches children that it is normal to change your birth sex (transgender), but that it is not normal to change your unwanted same-sex attractions (former homosexual) because sexual orientation is innate from birth. Telling the children sexual orientation is innate conflicts with the American Psychological Association statement in the eighth grade curriculum. Homophobia is defined as laughing at a gay joke.
